Groninger’s FlexPro 50 Offers Flexibility for Small-Batch Processing

Groninger has developed FlexPro 50, an isolator system for aseptic processing of nested syringes, cartridges, and vials. FlexPro 50 is capable of achieving outputs of up to 5000 containers per hour.

In response to increasing demand for flexible solutions in pharmaceutical aseptic production, Groninger, a custom-built machine manufacturer, has developed FlexPro 50, an isolator system for aseptic processing of nested syringes, cartridges, and vials. FlexPro 50 is capable of achieving outputs of up to 5000 containers per hour, according to the Groninger. This modular machine was developed in collaboration with isolator manufacture Franz Ziel GmbH and is based on the ready-engineered philosophy.

The line, which Groninger will exhibit at ACHEMA, consists of a semi-automatic bag opener and fully automatic units for opening tubs and filling and closing of nested vials. Groninger claims that the isolator provides safe filling and closing for aseptic processes and is suitable for the production of small batches, which require high safety standards.

The in-process control of the isolator guarantees sterility at all stages of the aseptic process. Another feature is the decontamination unit for the syringe tubs, which reduces potential contamination when using plasma technology, meeting current GMP requirement.

Groninger will also be showing its robotic technology for sterile production. The robot facilitates safe and swift sorting of filled and closed vials in trays. It has a smooth action, allowing for exceptionally gentle insertion, which thereby minimizes spillage especially when handling liquid products. Groninger says that the robot increases product safety considerably.

Another exhibit at ACHEMA will be Groninger’s X-ray inspection system for syringe production lines. The system, which can be easily integrated into all Groninger machines, offers an innovative solution for identifying the right position and form of the needle under the needle guard in high-speed glass syringe production lines.
