The organizers of Pharmapack Europe have revealed their prediction that the drug delivery and healthcare packaging industry will experience significant growth during 2019.

In a March 19, 2019 press statement, the organizers of Pharmapack Europe have revealed their prediction that the drug delivery and healthcare packaging industry will experience significant growth during 2019, mirroring the success of this year’s Pharmapack event in Paris.

With 405 exhibitors and nearly 5500 attendees, from 75 countries, the latest edition of Pharmapack Europe, which took place on Feb. 6–7, 2019, was reported as being one of the most successful so far. Additionally, expansions in content and awards were also witnessed during the 2019 event, where ‘patient-centricity’ was highlighted as the central theme.

“This year’s event demonstrated what an exciting time it is for drug delivery and packaging,” commented Silvia Forroova, brand director at Pharmapack Europe, in the statement. “I anticipate many of the innovations seen on the show floor delivering improvements in patient care over the next few years-in particular those across patient friendly and sustainable solutions.”

During the show, the conference agenda, which was delivered by industry speakers, explored current pharma packaging and drug delivery trends and analyzed regulatory changes in the European Union and United States markets. Major topics discussed at the event included patient adherence, biologicals and biosimilars, challenges in usability, and sustainability.

“The conference agenda showed the depth and breadth of new developments and 2019 looks set to bring a golden age of patient focused developments and innovations from smart packaging and connected devices to autoinjectors. Our agenda also highlighted the importance of partnering to bring newer innovations to market, meeting new contacts who can help scale-up promising technologies beyond clinical development and into commercial supply,” added Forroova. “This is why an event like Pharmapack remains so crucial to industry innovation moving forwards; it’s about meeting contacts, exchanging ideas, and learning vital new skills to help further the industry so we can deliver new solutions for patients globally.”
