Portable tester verifies passivation of stainless-steel equipment
Koslow Scientific Company’s Passi-Flash 3036 portable instrument for passivation testing works with all grades of stainless steel to verify that vessels, piping, and equipment are free from iron particles that can oxidize and contaminate products. The tester resembles an oversized pen and is designed for single-handed operation. It produces a pass/fail signal in less than one second and displays the measurement in millivolts. The built-in memory stores readings for download to a record-keeping system. Portable testers allow users to test equipment on-site, rather than at an outside testing facility, notes the company.

Cold chain logger records time and temperature data
Vaisala’s CCL100 Cold Chain Logger records and monitors time and temperature during transportation of vaccines, pharmaceuticals, biologics, and other perishable products. The thin, compact, single-use sensor can be placed inside or on top of a package where it reads and records surface temperature throughout the cold chain. The new logger is in a sealed, waterproof package that is smaller than existing packages. The logger features a simple delivery system that does not require special readers or software, but connects to a USB port to generate a comprehensive report of the package’s history. A flashing LED on the logger alerts operators to any temperature excursions. |
