Plastics Compounding Twin Screw Workshop: November 29-30, 2023

Description: The Leistritz Plastics Compounding Twin Extrusion Workshop is a workshop designed to instruct industry professionals on continuous manufacturing via twin screw extrusion. At the workshop, classroom sessions are supplemented by interactive "hands-on" extrusion system demonstrations.

Hosted at the Hyatt House Branchburg Hotel, the first day of the workshop will feature classroom sessions on various twin extrusion topics. These topics include, among others, co-rotating and counter-rotating twin screw extrusion technology; sequencing of multi-stage process operations; feeders and material handling for pellets, powders and liquids; and devolatilization process techniques and practices

Hosted at Leistritz’s process development laboratory in Branchburg, NJ, the second day of the workshop will feature hands on demonstrations of the following practices:

• Co-rotating and counter-rotating twin screw extruders
• Devolatilization via extrusion: ambient, vacuum assist, multi-stage
• Downstream addition of fillers, fibers and additives
• Feeding of pellets, powders, liquids and fibers
• Twin screw pelletizing system
• Direct sheet/film extrusion with gear pump front-end
• How to design, stage, disassemble, clean, and reassemble screws
