Increased capacity at PPD’s Richmond, VA laboratory are designed to support customers’ vaccine development programs.
Pharmaceutical Product Development, LLC (PPD), announced on May 18, 2017 the expansion of its vaccine sciences lab in Richmond, VA. The new vaccines laboratory space features 17,000 square feet for vaccine efficacy testing using cell-based assays and immunochemistry.
The lab offers services that support vaccine development including method development, qualification, and validation; extensive statistical and regulatory expertise; and high-throughput, automated and/or multiplex assays. The lab has diverse experience with multiple assay formats, including molecular genomics, immunology, cell-based and functional assays, the company reports.
In recent years, the facility has added about 50,000 sq. ft. and now totals nearly 200,000 sq. ft. Improvements at the laboratory include enhancements to genomics, immunochemistry, and automation services. The facility employ nearly 700 people, including doctorate-level scientists, analytical laboratory staff. and other scientific professionals.
