Cargill invests to upgrade its alginate production plant in in Lannilis, Brittany, France.

Cargill is investing $15 million to upgrade and expand its alginates production plant in Lannilis, Brittany, France. The investment will fund several upgrades to the plant, including capacity expansion, safety upgraded, and improved wastewater processing. The production plant is located in close proximity to the French coast, where Cargill works with local fisherman to secure a source of fresh brown seaweed, from which the alginate is extracted.

Cargill offers a variety of alginates with gelling and thickening functionalities for applications in pharmaceuticals, food and beverages.
