On Oct. 10, the US Food and Drug Administration (Rockville, MD, www.fda.gov) will hold a public meeting on products containing "nanotechnology materials."
The Agency's new Nanotechnology Task Force stated "we are interested in learning about the kinds of new nanotechnology material products under development in the areas of foods (including dietary supplements), food and color additives, animal feeds, cosmetics, drugs and biologics, and medical devices," according to the meeting announcement. The announcement, "Food and Drug Administration-Regulated Products Containing Nanotechnology Materials; Public Meeting" (Docket No. 2006N-0107) is scheduled for publication in the Aug. 11 Federal Register (with a preview draft posted online at http://www.fda.gov/OHRMS/DOCKETS/98fr/06n-0107-nm00002.pdf).
The meeting will be held at the Natcher Auditorium at the National Institutes of Health, 9000 Rockville Pike, Building 45, Bethesda, MD. Those who would like to attend should register at the Nanotechnology Task Force's Web page,
