Mettler Toledo Launches New Liquid Handling Platform

On August 15, 2016, Mettler Toledo announced the launch of the Rainin BenchSmart 96, a new semi-automated 96-channel liquid handling platform. The BenchSmart is suitable for research, where experimental conditions change quickly and frequent modifications to the protocol are normal. BenchSmart's small footprint also makes it easy to move to wherever it is needed.

BenchSmart includes a large, touchscreen keypad and graphic interface. The platform improves the repeatability of experiments by eliminating variability in how liquids are aspirated and dispensed. BenchSmart gives users complete control over the instrument’s mechanical movement. Users can control the speed of the pipetting head, positioning tips within a plate or reservoir, and change the order of a protocol. The platform includes four tray positions and three interchangeable pipetting heads-0.5-20 µL, 5-200 µL, and 100-1000 µL. High-throughput tip options for the BenchSmart 96 include sterile, filter, and low retention, in both individual racks and convenient, space-saving stacks.
