Unlike other methods that require separate inoculation of individual wells, RapID has a simple, one-step inoculation procedure. A colony suspension is simply added to the inoculation tray and tipped into the test strip, inoculating each well simultaneously. Each panel uses the same simple procedure, so if you can use one RapID panel, you can use them all.
RapID provides rapid, same-day results (unlike alternative methods that require 18-72 hours). The system detects preformed bacterial enzymes and is not dependent on the growth of the organism, allowing panels to be incubated aerobically without oil overlays, in only 4 hours – saving time and resources. No specialized automation is required, so even small microbiology laboratories can easily adopt RapID.
