Crossflow Filter Device for Biotechnological Applications

The Sartocon Slice 50 crossflow filter device can be used for membrane screening and small-volume process development.

The Sartocon Slice 50 crossflow filter device from Sartorius Stedim Biotech (SSB) is designed for use in biotechnological applications, including membrane screening and small-volume process development. The device is offered as an encapsulated crossflow module with a filter area of 50 cm2 and a variety of molecular weight cutoffs. The crossflow filter eliminates the need for a compression holder and comes in a choice of two polymers:

  • The Hydrosart membrane is a stable polymer suitable for a broad pH range and can be depyrogenated using sodium hydroxide at elevated temperatures. It is extremely hydrophilic, making it non-protein-binding and virtually non-fouling.

  • The polyethersulfone membrane is a stable polymer that is ideal for a broad pH and temperature range.

The Sartocon Slice 50 is linearly scalable and be interfaced with SSB’s recently launched SARTOFLOW Smart benchtop crossflow system, as well as with many other laboratory-scale filtration systems.
