Leveraging an Innovative Mid-Scale Manufacturing Solution to Meet Diverse Needs
Key Takeaways
- Understand how the new UK DynaDrive™ bioreactor facility bridges the gap between early development and commercial-scale biomanufacturing.
- Learn how the FUJIFILM–Thermo Fisher Scientific collaboration was built to improve manufacturing flexibility, scalability, and supply-chain resilience.
Discover how a new mid-scale DynaDrive™ bioreactor platform and KojoX™ philosophy are redefining supply-chain security and manufacturing consistency across a growing global network.
As biopharmaceutical innovation accelerates, the need for flexible, scalable, and globally consistent manufacturing solutions has never been greater.
FUJIFILM Biotechnologies recently launched a new UK asset featuring 2,000-L and 5,000-L DynaDrive™ bioreactor technology, developed in close collaboration with Thermo Fisher Scientific. This mid-scale manufacturing solution was designed to help biopharmaceutical companies bridge the gap between early development and full commercialization, offering the flexibility and supply-chain security that become critical as products approach launch.
The foundation of this collaboration was built on shared priorities. Both organizations recognized that supply resilience and manufacturing reliability are essential when developing medicines that directly impact patient outcomes. FUJIFILM's goal was to move beyond traditional large-scale manufacturing and offer customers a solution that could support programs across the entire development and commercialization continuum. DynaDrive™ proved to be the ideal enabler of that vision.
A key advantage of the DynaDrive™ platform is its standardization across all scales. Customers can start small, optimize and intensify their processes over time, and scale up while maintaining consistency throughout the seed train and manufacturing workflow. This continuity helps streamline development, reduce risk, and support a wide variety of programs and patient populations without sacrificing operational efficiency.
Underpinning this approach is FUJIFILM's KojoX™ philosophy, which standardizes manufacturing capabilities and operating principles across its global network. This means the same platform and processes available at the new Borealis facility in the UK are also accessible at facilities in Toyama, Japan, and potentially future investments in College Station, Texas—giving customers a consistent, flexible global solution wherever they choose to operate.
