Sweden continues as a leader in early-stage life science innovation.1 The country is recognized for its dynamic, venture-supported biotech companies that target a diverse range of therapeutic areas and diagnostic solutions, including central nervous system (CNS) and neurology (AlzeCure Pharma, BioArtic AB), cell and gene therapies (Anocca AB, Asgard Therapeutics), immuno-oncology (Aligator Biosciences, Neogap Therapeutics AB), and rare diseases (Calliditas Therapeutics AB, Swedish Orphan Biovitrum AB). Since June 2025, investment in Swedish biotechs has surged, with a heavy focus on out-licensing, rights issues, and collaborations with strategic pharma partners including Eli Lilly, Foundation Medicine (Roche), and QuantumCell, amongst others (Table 1).
