Event Overview:
Confident metabolite identification depends on more than detection. Drug metabolism teams must localize the exact site of metabolism to guide medicinal chemistry decisions. Collision-induced dissociation (CID) often provides limited structural information, particularly for labile phase II conjugates such as glucuronides, which readily undergo neutral loss and leave the modification site ambiguous. Electron activated dissociation (EAD) on the ZenoTOF systems provides complementary fragmentation that preserves labile modifications and generates diagnostic ions, which can tell apart isomeric metabolites such as N- and O-glucuronides. Zeno trap enhanced MS/MS sensitivity and combined CID/EAD spectra speed up confident structure assignment for low level metabolites.
Key Learning Objectives:
- Leverage EAD to retain labile conjugates and yield diagnostic fragment ions
- Differentiate isomeric metabolites such as N- versus O-glucuronides
- Accelerate confident metabolite structure assignment
Who Should Attend:
- Drug metabolism and biotransformation scientists
- Bioanalytical scientists
- DMPK lab managers and directors
- Medicinal chemists
- CRO scientists
- Mass spectrometry core facility staff
