Tosoh has developed a new product - Toyopearl Toyoscreen that allows fast identification of the optimal resin for your sample. You can develop the optimal conditions for the separation in addition to the determination of the dynamic binding capacity. All the resins prepacked in these columns are real process resins concerning particle size. Results on the small columns can be scaled up to production.

The different Toyopearl resins can be screened rapidly with the new Toyoscreen columns. These columns consist of either 1 mL or 5 mL cartouche, to be assembled into a holder. The columns are reusable, as is the holder (Figure 1). Despite the cost-effective design, all columns show high plate numbers. They are delivered sealed and prepacked. The fittings are compatible with common FPLC and HPLC lab devices.
FIGURE 1
Toyopearl resins consist of a hydrophilic polymer with high chemical and mechanical stability. The spherical particles are copolymerized out of glycidylmethacrylate and ethyleneglycoldimethacrylat. The polymeric backbone ensures an excellent pressure-flow stability and is, therefore, suitable for pressure up to 5 bar (72 psi). This mechanical stability allows high flow rates during packing and operation, resulting in a highly efficient process economy.
Toyopearl resins are available with different functional groups. Toyoscreen columns are filled with particles for ion exchange, affinity and hydrophobic interaction. Two different particle sizes and three different pore sizes are available. The time to select the optimal resin for your sample is strongly reduced by Toyoscreen.
The excellent column quality of Toyoscreen enables excellent reproducibility of chromatographic runs. This is important to identify the optimal parameters in protein purification, as the testing conditions require fast fluctuations in pH, salt, flow rate and solvents. Therefore, Toyoscreen columns are suitable for the effective set-up of optimal purification conditions.

Full Tolerance Coverage Method for Assessing Uniformity of Dosage Units with Large Sample Sizes
March 10th 2025The ‘full tolerance coverage method’ is introduced as a coverage estimation approach for assessing the uniformity of dosage units from large sample sizes, ensuring that no dosage unit exceeds the specification range.
