ADCs, Degraders, Agonists: 4 Deals CMC Teams Should Track
Boehringer, AbbVie, ASKA, and Evommune license ADC, IBD, thyroid eye disease, and degrader assets, raising tech transfer demands for manufacturers.
Four licensing agreements announced November 4, 2026, show drug developers sourcing early- and midstage assets across borders.1-4 The deals cover antibody drug conjugates (ADCs), T-cell engagers, an oral receptor agonist, a subcutaneous antibody, and a molecular glue degrader. Each of these brings its own technology transfer and scale-up demands.
What Does Boehringer Ingelheim Gain From Its Second SBP Group Deal?
Boehringer Ingelheim and Sino Biopharmaceutical (SBP Group) announced an option and license agreement covering 6 preclinical ADC and T-cell engager programs.¹ The programs come from 2 SBP Group subsidiaries, LaNova Medicines and Beijing Tide Pharmaceutical. SBP Group will lead early development. Once agreed clinical milestones are reached, Boehringer may exercise options for rights outside mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau for 4 programs, and worldwide rights for 2. SBP Group receives $358 million in upfront and near-term payments and is eligible for up to $7 billion in milestones, plus tiered royalties.
“Our partnership with SBP Group brings together complementary science to broaden our development portfolio of antibody-drug conjugates and T-cell engagers. It puts our China strategy into action by connecting innovation from China with our global research and development capabilities,” said Paola Casarosa, Head of the Innovation Unit, Boehringer Ingelheim, said in a press release.1 “Together, we aim to accelerate promising therapeutic approaches and create new treatment possibilities for people living with difficult-to-treat cancers worldwide.”¹

Why Is AbbVie Licensing a Gut-Selective Agonist for Inflammatory Bowel Disease?
Nxera Pharma granted AbbVie exclusive worldwide rights to NXE0033744, an oral EP4 receptor agonist for inflammatory bowel disease.² Nxera receives $100 million upfront and is eligible for up to $1.37 billion in milestones, plus tiered royalties. The molecule is designed to activate EP4 locally in the gastrointestinal tract while keeping systemic exposure low. The company said a completed Phase 1 program supported that gut-restricted profile. Keeping that profile intact will make formulation and pharmacokinetic characterization central to later-stage work.
How Will ASKA Advance an IGF-1R Antibody in Japan?
Minghui Pharmaceutical granted ASKA Pharmaceutical exclusive rights in Japan to MHB018A, a subcutaneous antibody targeting insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF-1R) for thyroid eye disease (TED).³ Minghui receives $110 million upfront, up to $330 million in milestones, and tiered royalties of up to mid-30% on net sales in Japan. Minghui keeps all rights outside Japan, and its 4 pivotal Phase 3 studies include sites in Japan.
“This partnership represents an important step in strengthening our presence in thyroid disease and specialty care, as well as expanding our product portfolio. TED is a disease with limited treatment options and significant unmet medical needs in Japan. Through our collaboration with Minghui, we are committed to advancing efforts toward regulatory approval and bringing a new treatment option to patients in Japan as soon as possible,” said Sohta Yamaguchi, President, ASKA Pharmaceutical, in a press release.³
ASKA’s eventual filing will rely on Minghui’s global IGF-1R data and supply chain.3 That makes aligning manufacturing and regulatory work across the 2 companies a near-term priority.
What Does Evommune’s VAV1 Degrader Deal Signal?
Evommune in-licensed rights outside Greater China to EVO570, an oral molecular glue degrader from Hinova Pharmaceuticals.⁴ It targets VAV1, a signaling protein found mainly in immune cells. Evommune will pay $30 million upfront plus up to approximately $1.1 billion in milestones and tiered royalties. A Phase 1 trial is expected to begin imminently, and a Phase 2 trial in rheumatoid arthritis is planned for 2027. The deal takes the industry’s
