Janssen Received the 2021 ISPE Facility of the Year Award

The International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) announced the 2021 Facility of the Year Awards (FOYA) Overall Winner on Nov. 2, 2021 at its annual meeting. The overall FOYA winner was chosen from the FOYA category winners,
The Janssen project added biologics drug substance fed-batch capacity at the 15,000-L scale. The facility was designed with Project Management Group (PMG) and constructed with John Sisk & Sons as builder. The team focused on safety and compliance in constructing the 200,000-ft2 facility on time and within budget, even with the added challenges of pandemic restrictions. The team worked together to meet goals, which included an integrated approach with the existing manufacturing site to ensure no disruption to existing production. Construction of the facility was started in October 2017, and qualification began in September 2020.
